Our Practices

We think of our production as a mix of modern and traditional. We believe the best way to move cattle is from the back of a horse. We believe open range is good for cattle, good for the environment, and good for the soul. When you can trail cattle for an entire day, navigating only the natural obstacles, never coming in contact with a fence or gate, that speaks to how humans and animals once lived and worked together.

On our irrigated pastures, we utilize managed rotational grazing. This allows for superior animal production while allowing the soil and plants to rest, ensuring that we are improving the pastures we graze and targeting the reduction of weeds by planned intensive grazing where applicable.

We utilize the interceding of diverse forages to support soil fertility, nitrogen fixation, and to fight soil compaction and improve water retention, along with increasing the grazing season by providing valuable grazing during the dormant season. Wildlife is a huge component on our lands, whether it be elk in the high country or deer and turkeys in the irrigated pastures. Wildlife benefit from the lands we manage and the waters we ensure are clean and available.
